Description

The Covenant School’s Facilities Technician is responsible for partnering with the Facilities Director to ensure the school’s facilities and campus are well-maintained and function properly.  The Technician will be responsible for proactively identifying needed improvements, minor repairs, preventive maintenance, event set-up and tear down, supply management and project management, as needed.   

Essential Functions:   

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Review and respond to help desk tickets in a timely manner.
    • Light mechanical duties: Program thermostats,  adjust/replace door hardware;  etc.
    • Light plumbing duties:  Repair toilets, replace faucets, plumbing supply lines and valves, etc. 
    • Light electrical duties; Replace fluorescent light bulbs; reset circuit breakers; investigate power issues; replace ballasts, outlets, fixtures, and light switches; etc.
    • Light construction duties; Assemble furniture; repair walls and doors; hang pictures; install white/bulletin boards; adjust doors/gates; repair fencing, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to schedule(s) and maintain corresponding documentation.
  • Manage supply inventories and order supplies, as needed.
  • Proactively communicate with key stakeholders (i.e., Facilities Director, faculty, staff, event manager, etc.) about needs and issues.

Events

  • Complete set-up and tear-down for on-campus events.
  • Complete set-up and tear-down for off-campus events, as needed.
  • Serve the faculty and staff responsible for events by responding to their unexpected needs, as required and as time allows.

Requirement

Minimum Experience and Background: 

  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in construction or a facilities maintenance position.
  • A good working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • School experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with commercial buildings is preferred but not required.
  • Must be self-motivated and organized with strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.  
  • Able to lift 50 pounds and walk up and down steps and ladders.
  • Frequent campus walk throughs to inspect buildings and grounds is required.
  • Some early morning and evening work required.
